A local homology theory for linearly compact modules

    Get PDF
We introduce a local homology theory for linearly compact modules which is in some sense dual to the local cohomology theory of A. Grothendieck. Some basic properties such as the noetherianness, the vanishing and non-vanishing of local homology modules of linearly compact modules are proved. A duality theory between local homology and local cohomology modules of linearly compact modules is developed by using Matlis duality and Macdonald duality. As consequences of the duality theorem we obtain some generalizations of well-known results in the theory of local cohomology for semi-discrete linearly compact modules.Comment: 24 page

A Trio Neural Model for Dynamic Entity Relatedness Ranking

Measuring entity relatedness is a fundamental task for many natural language processing and information retrieval applications. Prior work often studies entity relatedness in static settings and an unsupervised manner. However, entities in real-world are often involved in many different relationships, consequently entity-relations are very dynamic over time. In this work, we propose a neural networkbased approach for dynamic entity relatedness, leveraging the collective attention as supervision. Our model is capable of learning rich and different entity representations in a joint framework. Through extensive experiments on large-scale datasets, we demonstrate that our method achieves better results than competitive baselines.Comment: In Proceedings of CoNLL 201

Experimental Evaluation of Geopolymer Concrete Strength Using Sea Sand and Sea Water in Mixture

    Get PDF
This paper presents the experimental strength evaluation of geopolymer concrete and ordinary concrete using sea sand and seawater in the mixture. A series of 30 cubic samples with a 150 mm side length and 12 rectangular specimens with a dimension of 100 × 100 × 400 mm (width × thickness × length) were cast and tested in this study. Specimens were divided equally into two groups. The first group of specimens was cast using geopolymer as the main binder (GPC), while the second group of samples was made using ordinary Portland Cement (OPC). While the compression tests were performed for specimens in two groups at the ages of 3, 7, 28, 60, and 120 days, the tensile tests were only performed for specimens at 7 and 28 days. The testing results revealed that the compression strength of GPC specimens using sea sand and seawater was significantly higher than that of OPC samples using the same type of salted sand and water. Besides, the use of sea sand and seawater for replacing river sand and fresh water in the production of GPC is feasible in terms of compressive strength since GPC produces a higher compressive strength than that of conventional concrete. Doi: 10.28991/CEJ-2022-08-08-03 Full Text: PD

Cross-layer topology design for network coding based wireless multicasting

    Get PDF
This paper considers wireless multicast networks where network coding (NC) is applied to improve network throughput. A novel joint topology and cross-layer design is proposed to miximize the network throughput subject to various quality-of-service constraints, such as: wireless multicast rate, wireless link capacity, energy supply and network lifetime. Specifically, a heuristic NC-based link-controlled routing tree algorithm is developed to reduce the number of required intermediate nodes. The proposed algorithm facilitates the optimization of the wireless multicast rate, data flow of wireless links, energy supply and lifetime of nodes through a novel cross-layer design. The proposed joint topology and cross-layer design is evaluated and compared against other schemes from the literature. The results show that the proposed scheme can achieve up to 50% increase in the system throughput when compared to a classic approach

Cross-layer optimisation for topology design of wireless multicast networks via network coding

One of the main challenges towards reliable multicast transmissions over wireless networks is the dynamics of the wireless links (e.g. wireless errors, fading, interference, collisions, etc.) that can cause retransmissions overhead over the limited available bandwidth. To this end this paper considers the scenario of wireless multicast networks where network coding is applied to improve network throughput. We first propose a novel cross-layer optimisation framework for network topology design in order to optimise the wireless multicast rate, data flow of the wireless links, energy supply and node lifetime. The performance of the proposed solution is evaluated and compared against other solutions from the literature in terms of system throughput, total energy, and network lifetime. The results show that the proposed cross-layer design outperforms the other schemes involved, reaching up to 50% increase in the system throughput

VIBRATION ANALYSIS OF CROSS-PLY LAMINATED COMPOSITE DOUBLY CURVED SHALLOW SHELL PANELS WITH STIFFENERS

    Get PDF
In this paper, the analytical solution for the cross-ply laminated composite double curved shell panels with stiffeners is presented. Based on the smeared stiffeners technique and the first shear deformation theory (FSDT), the motion equations are derived by applying the Hamilton’s principle. The Navier’s solution for the simply supported boundary condition for all edges is presented. The numerical results are verified with the known results in the literature. The effects of the number of stiffeners, dimensions of stiffeners, and lamination scheme of cross-ply laminated composite doubly curved shell panels on the natural fundamental frequencies are investigated
